We Gather Ourselves Again and Again

2025

This piece came from a dream remembered. I was in darkness, but not a peaceful darkness. It was scary and unnerving, black wind whipping me around. At my feet were the most gorgeous wildflowers, hauntingly beautiful, strewn on the ground. I could scoop them up and hold them — cradling them felt so good, and then some would scatter and get lost in this wind and ground. I gathered them up again and again. Lost. Found. Lost. Found. It wasn’t exasperating. In this dream, I was meant to gather. That is what life feels like right now. Each morning, I gather myself, and then I am strewn about, and then I gather myself again —-> “we gather ourselves again and again”
