The Lottery

36 small sewn works of textiles, paint, bleach, & thread are presented in a sewn-and-painted grid form. Here I am experimenting with sewn grid forms to see how the materiality of the grid affects what it holds. I like the softer structure and how it conveys a ragged, vulnerable quality. I also liked working with old kitchen cloths for this background and materials that often clean up stains and messes while getting stained themselves in the process
